About

“Rather than stamp a room with my own signature look, I want to make clients feel comfortable and engaged with the choice of every element in their home.” — Shelley Morris

Based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, Shelley Morris Interiors orchestrates rooms rich in texture and refined furnishings. Known for her subtle use of color and collected objects—from African tribal headdresses to 19th -century Majolica—Shelley has applied her talents to homes and apartments in styles ranging from Colonial-inspired traditional to artist’s-loft modern. Her approach to every project is to translate her clients’ personal style and aspirations into an engaging, functional environment. This, along with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to service, is why so many clients return to her time and again.

A graduate of the interior design program at New York’s Parsons School of Design, Shelley founded her residential interiors practice in 1992. Since then, she has completed a wide range of projects throughout the New York metropolitan area, New England and California, collaborating with a roster of notable architects and design specialists that includes upholsterers, carpenters, custom furniture makers, ceramicists and fine artists. Shelley’s own studies in fine art and passion for travel, foreign cultures and the history of furniture and architecture are also reflected in her vibrant, eclectic interiors.

Shelley can personally address a project of any scope and size, either as a full-service designer or as a design consultant on an hourly basis. She is available to advise on color palettes; furniture arrangement; art selection and display; accessorizing; antique acquisition; kitchen and bathroom fixtures; and custom window treatments. She bills all her work on an hourly fee basis, with no additional percentages applied to purchases or expenses such as furniture or custom craftsmanship. This approach is a rarity of value and integrity in the interior design field that Shelley takes great pride in.

Shelley’s work has been featured widely in publications including Bedford Magazine; Colonial Homes; Cottages & Gardens; Decorating Ideas; Design Times; East Coast Home; Fairfield County Home; Westchester Magazine’s Home & Garden; and Woman’s Day Specials. The designer’s own home was showcased in athome Magazine in Fall 2009. Her work is also featured in the 2011 book Black & White (and a bit in between) by Celerie Kemble.
