Without effacing the charm of the rustic architectural details of the owners' vintage house in the woods, Shelley brings the design forward with a twenty-first century arrangement that embraces her clients' lifestyle. First reworking the layout to smooth the connections among its rooms, she updated and enlarged key openings to bring the seasonal color and natural light of the outdoors in. Then she performs her signature balancing act. Fresh, light- struck gallery walls and pale wood floors become the backdrop, with a palette of furnishings and accessories that reflect a comfortable, elegant, and modern take on country living. Art and vintage treasures collected throughout the owners' lives create the very personal signature that completes the design, and makes it uniquely theirs.
