Stone Cottage

Dating from 1929, the stone house in Westport, Conn. exuded the picture-perfect charm of a Cotswold cottage. But its poorly renovated interior needed a serious refresh before a young couple from Brooklyn could happily call it home.

Shelley began by correcting past remodeling mistakes, then imbued the interior with high-level craftsmanship that included Roman clay accent walls, a reconfigured primary bathroom and a fresh, functional kitchen.

She then helped the young owners harmonize the sleek modern furnishings they loved with treasured inherited pieces that reflected their deep family ties.

Shelley’s instinct for blending homey comfort and contemporary lifestyles is evident in the couple’s dual home offices, both exquisitely balanced for an atmosphere that’s equal parts beauty and business.
