West goes East

When a designer and her clients come together, the home they create does the same. In refreshing this New Canaan house, Shelley collaborated closely with its new owners, a television producer and actor who had relocated from the West Coast.

Together they selected one-of-a-kind furniture, lighting, and accessories to complement pieces from a prior home, while introducing textures and design elements that bring the entire house to life.

They added visual interest with handmade tiles in the kitchen, and built-in shelving in the living and dining rooms. In the main bedroom suite, Shelley collaborated with her client on the addition of architectural improvements that add light and personality, including a tray ceiling, a window seat and a glamorous bath remodel featuring sleek porcelain walls and floors.

A bonus room became the husband’s stylish office. Lightening dark floors and replacing a chilly gray palette with warm, soothing tones were the final touches in making this an elegant home where it’s as easy to relax as it is to entertain.
